Swift Start With Your Own Credit Score Improvement

In the existing economy there are many folks who have suffered credit difficulties. Everyone wants to have great credit but now and then we all have unanticipated circumstances. Credit tribulations are bothersome for individuals because it can be difficult if not impossible to get credit, if you do manage to acquire credit you can be charged a higher interest rate or you may have to put down more collateral than usual.

However, there are some actions you can take to repair your credit. The very first thing to do is to get a up-to-date credit report from each of the three credit reporting companies. In the United States they are Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Each year you are entitled to one credit report for no cost or you can also get a combined report that contains all three in one for a fee.

After you get your report you will need to scrutinize it for mistakes and inaccuracies. There are probably some mistakes on your credit report because it is predicted that as many as 79% of all credit reports contain mistakes. You have the right to dispute anything that you think might be inaccurate on your report.

Credit reporting agencies are merely paid to provide the information, whether it is truthful or not is irrelevant to them. If the information is incorrect or mistaken on your credit report you are the only one who suffers because of it, thus you must do what you can to make sure that your credit report is as precise as possible.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act or the FCRA was enacted to protect consumers. It gives you the right to dispute anything that you find on your report that you believe to be erroneous. You have to submit a formal written dispute and after receipt of your dispute the credit bureaus have 30 to 45 days to either confirm the accuracy of the information or delete it from your credit report.

You really have an advantage when you make a dispute because the credit bureaus only make money from compiling and selling information and they lose money with disputes. If you present solid evidence and you have a good case you almost certainly have a good chance of getting the negative listings removed.

Additionally it is smart to start rebuilding good credit and paying down the balances on any debts that you have. A large percentage of your credit score is attributed to how much credit you have available compared to how much credit you have used. The highest credit scores go to the people who have access to credit but rarely use it.

Rebuilding and repairing your credit can be done; you just need to take the steps to get started. If your job and financial situations are in order but you still have bad credit now is the time to do what is necessary to repair your credit.
