Business transactions that are processed online has dramatically increased over the past 15 years. Purchases made with credit cards makes shopping a breeze. If you are not accepting credit cards then you are missing out on so much additional earnings.

When people visit a webstore they are expecting to have to use a credit card and pay for their purchase online. Should a customer not see a shopping cart integrated into your website that has a “buy it now” button or an “add to cart” they will hit the back button on their browser with lightening fast speed! You don’t want to miss out on sales that fast do you? Then do yourself a favor and look into getting a merchant account that can easily accept credit cards.

So, a question to ask yourself is: are you tired of losing customers because of your lack of credit card acceptance? If your answer is an overwhelming yes, then start looking for a merchant account provider right this minute. Merchant account acceptance is quite easy and your provider will do most of the work for you. You won’t ever have to deal with answering phone calls and taking credit card information over the phone. If you are lucky to get a good merchant account provider, you won’t even have to deal with logging onto a website to process the transactions yourself. Many providers will help you integrate your shopping cart into your website.

Ok, now that you have decided to get your website integrated with accepting credit cards, you will also need to look into which merchant account provider you would like to sign up with. There are thousands of companies out there that will help you apply, get set up and start accepting credit cards in as fast as 24 hours. If you start reading reviews online through forums and blogs, you will get a good idea of what providers you might want to work with. Of course, the monthly fees and transaction fees will play a huge role in deciding which merchant account to use.

If you do not have a webstore built yet, there are services that help you easily build your website and automatically integrate your website to accept credit cards.

A Point of Sale (POS) system is indispensable for any type of retail business. It is a combination of specialized hardware and computer hardware that allows staff members to enter customer purchases, manage inventory, take credit card payments, track expenses, generate reports, and much more. Whether you’re running a convenience store, restaurant, flower shop or specialty store, a POS system can help perform many different processes to maximize your efficiency.

Some of the chief benefits reported by businesses that use such systems include:

- More accurate and more detailed information – Greater productivity – The ability to share reliable information with product suppliers and other partners – The ability to operate on a leaner stock

Choosing a Point-of-Sale System Shopping around for a POS system for your business is no easy proposition. First, you must know your business very well and have a solid idea of how things run and what information will be most helpful to you. If that wasn’t enough of a challenge, comparing systems requires in depth knowledge of computers, networks, software features, and more. The market is flooded with POS systems of all complexity levels and price ranges. Knowing what to look for and where to start can be very difficult. Below are some guidelines to help you get started.

Identify Your POS Needs Identifying your point-of-sale needs can be as easy as finding out what your competitors (or other businesses similar to yours) are using or as difficult as performing an in-depth study of every transaction you process. It is a good idea to talk to your employees and your customers to get feedback on what kinds of features would help. For example, you could ask customers questions such as “do you ever shop with us online?” or “would you be interested in a frequent shopper program?” Also, keep in mind that even if there are software packages designed specifically for your type of business, they may vary wildly and you still need to research the features to determine what’ll work best for your business.

Establish a Budget A great way to narrow down your options is to establish a budget for your POS system expenditure. When doing so, remember that you will need to invest in a server (unless the system will work with your existing one) retail software, accounting software, terminals (how many will you need?) Talking to other business owners is a good way to get an idea of the range of what’s out there in terms of price.

Research the Market You may have initially taken a look at what’s available on the market in order to get an idea of what exists and in order to help you establish your budget. Now it is time to do more in-depth research and narrow down your choices. Once you find a system or two that seem to be the right fit for your company, you should research the providers. Make sure you are dealing with a reputable company known for providing outstanding service. Also, ask for and call references.

Online payments processing company offers merchant account online statements and reports. With value added merchant services, we provide 24/7 access to daily card transaction data and monthly consolidated statements to better manage your internal information requirements.

Many of us have been there and if you ask how it happened, some people don't know. We said yes to a purchase when we should have said no.

Many of us have been there and if you ask how it happened, some people don’t know. We said yes to a purchase when we should have said no.

We broke every rule that our parents taught us including the golden financial rule: Don’t spend it if you don’t have it. Fortunately, even if our credit is in shambles, there are ways to help us rebuild it.

You may be somebody who knows how to manage money. You have never made an impulse purchase and the idea of buying something not on sale is foreign to you.

You had a savings account and your financial health was strong but then something happened in your life that was unexpected. Your savings was wiped out and now you find yourself in financial trouble.

While repairing your damaged score with a new credit card seems odd, these offers do have some tools to help you. First, all of they will report your positive payment history to the three major reporting agencies.

Next, many offer educational articles, podcasts, and seminars to teach you how to better manage your finances.

These cards come in numerous varieties. Some are secured, which means that the money contained in a savings account that you set up is your available balance.

Others are unsecured which is the traditional method where money is extended to you on the promise you will make payments.

There are some drawbacks, often the interest rate and fees are quite high. It’s not uncommon to pay more than $250 in fees just to apply and be approved.

The limit is low. Most cards start at $500 or less and once the application fees are subtracted, you may only have slightly over $250 to left to use.

There are some that truly help those who are trying to rebuild. By offering a reduced APR, less fees, and a liberal payment policy, these can even further help those trying to dig out of financial hardship.

To find the right one for you, do some comparison shopping. Depending on your situation a prepaid offer may be the way to go, some now report to major bureaus.

Shopping online is one retail activity that seems to be thriving, even during tough economic times. More people are now using the internet for their shopping needs. According to a recent study released by McAfee, Inc., the worlds biggest security company, and carried out by Harris Interactive, “72% of consumers said the economy has not changed the way they shop online.” Instead, the study revealed that “fears about online security and personal information are the biggest drivers behind terminated online sales.” The study also found that, “nearly half of consumers have terminated an order or abandoned their shopping cart due to security concerns.”

Legitimate online retailers are now embracing the best and most effective security measures to protect their customers. In recent years, there have been a number of technological advancements that have made online shopping more safe and secure.

In order to protect credit card and other financial information from being stolen, e-commerce sites now use secure transaction methods when customers order and pay for products from their site. After placing an online order from a secure verified site, the customer clicks on the link to the page containing the order form. The customer will then be taken to a secure section (i.e… https://) of the merchants web site.

Once completing the payment form, they will click the submit button and send the order by way of https:// to the secure e-commerce server. A secure site will have a padlock in the browser window or SSL trust marks. It is important to note that the recent study released by McAfee, Inc found that about “60 % of consumers feel safer when shopping on sites with a trustmark and 47 % of consumers look for trustmarks to feel safe when shopping on a lesser known site.” As well, the survey found that “one-third of consumers would rather buy from a smaller website with a trustmark than from a larger, more well-known online retail site.”

Online merchants use the Secure Sockets Layer protocol, which encrypts sensitive information and securely transfers the data over the SSL connection. The transaction takes place over a secure encrypted connection such as https://. When a web browser points to a secured domain, a Secure Sockets Layer verifies both the server and the client. An SSL Certificate enables encryption during online payments and transactions. An encryption method is established with a unique session key so that secure transmission can commence. The SSL Certificate contains distinctive and verified information about the certificate owner. A Certificate Authority authenticates the certificate owners identity when it is issued. The SSL Certificate sets a private communication connection allowing encryption of the data during transmission. Encryption will scramble the data creating secure privacy. Each SSL Certificate consists of a public key and a private key. The public key is used to encrypt information and the private key is used to decrypt it. If an unauthorized user is able to capture the data, he or she will not be able to decrypt the transaction.

Shopping on the Internet has quickly become a major part of the U.S. economy. Because of the fears about financial and personal information theft, online merchants have stepped up to the plate and taken steps to alleviate consumer fears by implementing the most advanced security measures designed to keep online criminals from accessing their accounts.

Online payment processing company provides industry leading payment gateway services for card issuers and businesses that accept credit card and INTERAC direct payments.

All of us have experienced difficult financial times, and some of us are currently dealing with rough times. These monetary setbacks can result in undesirable credit scores and can make it nearly impossible to secure credit from any lender.

by Laura Stenson

All of us have experienced difficult financial times, and some of us are currently dealing with rough times. These monetary setbacks can result in undesirable credit scores and can make it nearly impossible to secure credit from any lender.

Fortunately, there is a way out of this dilemma. You can start by building positive marks on your report, that will help your score. The difficult part is finding a lender that will give you the chance to do this.

Typically a card has a limit, and you are able to purchase goods and services up to that limit. You are required to make a minimum monthly payment set by the lender, and there is usually interest charged for any unpaid balance every month.

However you may only be able to qualify for a secured or a prepaid offer. Below you will find brief descriptions of how these work.

Additionally you may qualify for an unsecured offer. However this will have a high interest rate and many fees.

Pre-paid

With a prepaid card, you first make a deposit into your account and then can use it to make purchases. Your purchases are deducted from the money you have in the account.

You can add money at any time, and many will allow you to deposit your paycheck or government check directly.

There are no interest fees, but there may be an initial activation, monthly, or transaction fees. Some will report to the three bureaus, which can help build positive marks.

Secured

These require you to make an initial deposit into your account to cover all or a percentage of your limit. This decreases the lender’s liability and supplies you with purchasing power.

If circumstances prevent you from making an on-time payment, the lender is able to take the payment from your initial deposit. Many do not require a credit check, so you don’t need to be as concerned about your past mistakes.

Some have annual fees and higher than average interest rates. Your activity will be reported to the three bureaus.

Unsecured

These do not require a deposit and are structured to give you a second chance. The limit is typically around $250 – $300, but you will be given the chance to increase this once you have proven you are responsible.

These usually come with an annual fee and high interest rates around 20%. Your activity will be reported to the bureaus.

by Laura Stenson

A prepaid card is convenient because it is an alternative to carrying cash or writing checks. The PrimaCard gives easy purchase transactions, it can be used to make free long distance phone calls, withdraw cash from ATM’s, transfer money, and pay bills.

When you deposit money to your card it is then ready to use just like cash. You can reload it at any time and for any amount.

And it can be used wherever MasterCard is accepted, including online retailers and merchants. You won’t have the hassle of writing checks or having to carry cash to cover your expenses.

Phone Calls

One of the best features is that you can use it to place free national and international long distance phone calls. There will never be a need to worry about carrying a phone card again.

When you reload it by depositing cash to the account, you earn free phone calling value. All it takes to start using your accumulated phone time is a call to our toll-free number. You then dial your long distance number and talk to your family and friends.

Reloads

You can arrange with your employer to have your paycheck deposited directly into your account. No more trying to get to your bank before it closes or waiting in long lines.

Your money will be ready to use for bills, groceries, or other necessities when you need it. You can also reload at any Green Dot Network location. The Green Dot Network includes cash locations and well known retailers, such as CVS, Walgreens and Rite-Aid.

Cash from ATM’s

If you prefer to use cash for your expenses, you can use one of the thousands of ATM’s. You will need to use a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for withdrawals.

Bill Paying

If your creditor or utility service accepts MasterCard payments, you can simply call the business and pay over the phone. Another option is to call the toll-free customer service telephone number and make payments that way. You can also make payments from your account online.

Cash Transfers

If you need to send family members cash your account can be connected to additional cards, and you can transfer funds at any time. This is a great idea if you have a college student far from home or a family member who is traveling. You can rest assured they will have access to cash immediately.

The Orchard Bank MasterCard gives many benefits while still reporting to the major bureaus. They give you an opportunity to choose from a variety of MasterCard offers so that your card matches your financial needs and situation.

You’ll have the flexibility of using it at millions of locations worldwide, including ATM’s. With other applications, you submit your information for just one offer.

When you complete their form, they process the information and then determine which you are actually best qualified for. You won’t need to worry about being turned down, because there is even a secured card with guaranteed approval.

However if you qualify for more than one, then you decide which one you want. It is up to you.

For qualified applicants, they offer a six-month introductory 0% APR for purchases and balance transfers. This can help get your spending under control by not having to pay interest for six months or consolidating several of your current bills into one payment.

Account Management

An account is easy to maintain and control. You will have access to your information twenty-four hours a day.

You can check your purchase and payment history and keep track of your balance in just minutes with their online account management system. Paying your bills on time is critical if you want to strengthen your credit.

You get to choose your monthly payment due date, giving you the freedom to select a due date that works for you. When you sign up for text messages and email alert service, you will receive reminders about upcoming due dates.

Bill Payments

You are able to set up monthly payments by scheduling them through your account. Set up one-time, recurring, and even payments that will be processed immediately with their Rush Pay service.

With automatic payments you can set up your schedule and then let Orchard Bank do the rest. They want you to have a good financial foundation.

And by letting you know which offers you will likely qualify for before you submit an application. It will help you eliminate unnecessary inquiries, which can lower your credit score.

The online account management tools will guide you towards effective financial control. They will regularly review your account status and increase your limit when practical, giving you more purchasing power and demonstrating to the bureaus that you are a responsible consumer.

Point of sale equipment is the equipment that is used to process a sale. The cash register that the cashier uses, the credit card machine, the retail software and the check printer are all pieces of point of sale equipment and they are all needed any time money or some form of payment is exchanging hands.

But what businesses really need point of sale equipment. We have online businesses and offline businesses that do transactions with people. It is important that the transactions are safe and that they are accurate. If they are not, then that could cause a plethora of issues for the seller and the buyer.

Business that need point of sale equipment

It is common sense that any retail outlet needs point of sale equipment. Since items such as cash registers have been around for over 100 years, there is no reason to not have one. Even the simplest of cash registers are available at department stores for you to add to your store. It doesnt matter if you operate a small shop, you need to have point of sale equipment.

But what about online businesses? What do they do? Well, the truth is that your point of sale equipment is actually online. There are programs that are embedded within websites that allow them to process credit and debit cards. They are safe systems because they are encoded for security. This is more or less the extent of the point of sale equipment on a website, which is great. This means there is not so much to manage like there is in a physical retail environment.

Where to acquire equipment

For the retail environment, you know that you can get your basic cash register at your local department store or office supply store. As for credit card terminals, there are companies that you can acquire them from. There is a cost involved, though. For each transaction, the terminal owner is able to receive a small fee. This is how they make their money. Is this a loss for you? No, it is not a loss for the fact that accepting credit and debit cards is a very profitable endeavor. You would be surprised how many potential customers turn around and leave because they find out that a business doesnt take debit and credit cards. The fact is that more and more people are simply carrying credit cards and debit cards. They are not carrying cash as often as they used to. A business that does not have a credit card terminal is a business missing out on opportunity.

Even checks are not as widely accepted, but it is important for some retail outlets to accept them. In this case, you may need something such as a check printer. You may also need to have a system in place that allows you to cross reference the checking account number and a persons ID number to make sure they do not have bounced checks out there. There are various check verification companies and you can acquire the right equipment from them for a fee.

So as you can see, it is important for virtually anyone accepting money to have point of sale equipment. The only people who can really get away with it is someone having a yard sale and using a crayon box or security box to keep the money in. No one expects you to have pos equipment in this case because youre simply accepting cash for small transactions. When youre a store, customers expect there to be point of sale equipment for your protection and for theirs.

We live in a day and time when it is very rare to walk into a place of business and not be able to pay with a credit or debt card. Actually, when a person walks into a business that does not allow credit or debt card payments, the customer can become extremely annoyed. As a matter of fact, they may walk out and not come back. This is because they do not want to have to hunt for an ATM machine and come back. They want to walk into the business, get what they want, and pay for it with the means that they have to pay for it. Its as simple as that.

The benefits

So if youre operating your business without a POS machine, it is time to review the benefits so that you can see how having these machines can benefit you and your business.

Usually, when a customer walks in they are looking for the credit card decals around your front door or your cash register. They want to make sure you take credit and debit cards. If you dont, they will probably not come back because of the fact they might find somewhere else to go on their way to the ATM machine. They become very annoyed and may decide not to do business with you for this very reason. Then again, they may only do business with you when they have cash in their pocket and for some people that isnt often.

Your business will grow. When a business accept credit card and cash, they do more business because they are appealing to different types of people. Your business can do this.

Keep in mind, however, that POS machines do not consist of just credit card machines. They consist of cash registers as well, which everyone knows is important for funds accountability and ensuring that the customer receives back the right change.

POS machines are all about accuracy. Customers stay happy and you stay happy because you dont have to worry about frequent customer altercations about how much money was charged, how much change they got back, or any other monetary or credit card dispute.

Basically, the use of a POS machine is something that is really going to benefit your business. Without a machine or two, doing business can be a bit tougher unless you are doing business strictly online and you have merchant accounts with payment processing companies. That is really the only exception.

How to find them

If you want to bring POS machines into your business, there are a lot of machines to choose from. First of all, you need a cash register. Your basic cash register will do fine. You dont have to have anything elaborate unless you are a large business. The tricky one, however, is the credit card machine. This is because there are many companies out there offering credit card machines. The best way to get through this is to look at the fees that the company takes from each transaction. Compare the fees of the different companies so that you can find one that suits you best.

Once you find the right POS system machines, youll be glad that you did because youll be able to experience all of the benefits that are available to you. Your business will grow, you will find that your customers will be happier, and even you will be happier. The increase in business will far outweigh any of the fees that you may have to pay to have credit card equipment. From there, you can grow your business.
